A marching band of Germans, Italians, and Japanese march through the streets of swastika-motif Nutziland, serenading “Der Fuehrer’s Face.” Donald Duck, not living in the region by choice, struggles to make do with disgusting Nazi food rations and then with his day of toil at a Nazi artillery factory. After a nervous breakdown, Donald awakens to find that his experience was in fact a nightmare.

wow. this was a surprise short before the feature film tonight. A friend of the Chicago Film Society owns a print of this and brought it since it tied in thematically to the feature film, IT HAPPENED HERE, a “what if” film where Germany invades England during WWII.
This short is crazy and no surprise they had to keep the title a mystery as Disney is not fond of this getting screening. And while it’s meant to be nti-Nazi propaganda, knowing a bit about Walt Disney one might say it’s actually the opposite. Kinda insane this was even made. Very cool to see it projected on the big screen much like it was since in 1943.
