After viewing DEVDAS last weekend I decided to request a bunch of India films from my library featuring the main stars from DEVDAS. This movie is one of Aishwarya Rai’s last films before she “retired” from the biz. I remember when this was in theater I had considered going bc it also stars Akshay Kumar, whom I generally enjoy. Didn’t happen for whatever reason but turns out this movie isn’t favorably rated. I can understand why. It’s a loose spin on the Back to the Future premise where a young guy goes back in time to save his parents from getting a divorce in the present.
The big problems here are that the comedy beats never really hit. More tedious than humorous. The dance numbers and songs are just okay. This wouldn’t have been so fun in the theater. You know it’s not a good film when two of the biggest stars in Bollywood can’t make this work. Little surprised that Sudeepa Singh doesn’t have many acting credits (she’s also under-utilized here). She’s a knockout.
