Movie 9 at the Box of Horrors and one I was most keen to see given that this is the only known 35mm print in existence. Also have not seen this one on the big screen and didn’t realize how well it would play to a big audience. So goddamn funny and entertaining. To dismiss this as a mere werewolf movie is to entirely miss the point. So much going on here with the obvious parallels to becoming a woman, puberty, feminism, motherhood, sisterhood, alienation. This is a brilliant movie and remarkable it’s already 18 years old.
Emily Perkins and Katherine Isabelle typically get all the accolades but damn is Mimi Rogers so fucking good in this. She nails her role so perfectly and has some of the funniest scenes. This is probably in my top 100 maybe top 50 horror films.
