Really good performances all around especially by Williams and Plummer. No major peaks or valleys; just tells the story of this event in Getty history with a few embellishments for the film version. Not great but certainly worth the watch for the movie wizardry of replacing Spacey with Plummer so quickly and seamlessly right before the movie release. You would never have guessed if you didn’t already know. Was a good decision for the story as well; Plummer is perfect for the aged Getty. Spacey just wouldn’t have worked IMO.
I think Michelle Williams is one the best working actors today. I’ll see her in anything and she’s 100 percent convincing in each role, transforming into that character.
If nothing else this movie did make me want to seek out a good biography on JP Getty. Fascinating man even if he was such a dick. Also would love to visit the Getty Museum again.
