Viewing Notes

Damn, didn’t expect this final installment to be better than the previous film, Scorch Trials, but it is. Enjoyed this a lot more (and I like Scorch Trials but it just isn’t as good as the first film). This movie is paced well but I was feeling the long runtime by the time it reaches the last big sequence. I do love how they tie back to the original movie but it’s quite noticeable how much these “kids” have grown up since that movie.

I’m glad Rosa Salazar was given more to do in this movie. She’s as much a hero here as Dylan O’Brien’s character. Same for Barry Pepper. Was concerned that Kaya wasn’t going to be a big part of this installment but fortunately she is. Walt Goggins doesn’t have a big part but it’s a great one at least. Was super happy to see Will Poulter again.

Someday it will be fun to watch all three movies back to back.
