Just remembered that I haven’t seen this…. as I was browsing thru my list on Netflix.
Better than the first movie but that finale sequence of CG soup is disappointing. Every time Gong Li is one screen is the best part of the movie; she lights it up. Another huge waste of Kelly Chen (I realize she’s guest appearing but still it’s be nice to see her used better). Kwok is a decent Monkey King.
I like the nod to Harryhausen. I love the three animal demons serving White Bone Queen but they’re also underutilized. Still fascinating to see these big budget high fantasy films being made in China. Look forward to MK3 this year.
