Viewing Notes

Samantha Robinson is in this?! That was a pleasant surprise. It’s funny bc during an unexpected intermission (couldn’t get the digital file to play correctly) I asked Charles Borg, the producer, if that was Samantha bc I knew it had to be her. And he said it wasn’t and maybe just looked like her and I was thinking of someone else. Of course as soon as the credits roll, Samantha is billed second behind Amir. So I say to Charles on my way out, “hey it is Samantha!” and he laughs and notes his mistake saying that he needs to update the IMDb listing.

Anyways I dug this film about about this one man (Amir, the director) and how people in his life share stories about their relationships to others. Not exactly certain what the science fiction aspect is here but I enjoyed hearing these people talk and the dynamic between Amir and the others. Possibly the best thing (besides Samantha) is the inclusion of the home movie he and his brothers shot when they were children: JASON TERRORIZES THE CITY OF IRVINE, their take on Friday the 13th. Adorable.
