Viewing Notes

Better than I remembered. This and THE INCREDIBLE HULK and I think THOR 2 were the only movies I had seen only once. Revisited THOR 2 last year but will have to check.

Anyways, wasn’t a big fan of IM2 on release. Still has some issues, mainly just cramming so much into it to make a bigger story than it really is (the Avengers stuff, Tony dying, dealing with the government, etc). Of course the main thrust is Ivan Vanko (whiplash) seeking revenge for what Tony’s dad did to his father. But even that is kinda thin bc Whiplash is crap villain even when he gets powered up the fight between him and IM/War Machine lasts like 2 minutes.

Basically what hurts this movie is that too much is going on. Oh all the Pepper Potts stuff too. Geezus there is a lot. Throw in Black Widow too.

What I like on this rewatch and makes me like the movie more than that first viewing: Black Widow is in this a lot more than I remembered. A lot more. She’s the personal assistant to Pepper so she’s in many scenes. It’s cool to look back on her knowing her story arc in the Avengers. I actually wished she was in this movie even more like she was in Winter Soldier. I like Sam Rockwell a lot as Justin Hammer. I’d love to see him comeback in a new film with a redemption arc. Of course I like Don Cheadle stepping in as the new Rhodey. He’s great.
