Viewing Notes

As a fan of the animated show (the one with the awesome Puffy AmiYumi theme song) this was a nice film to see big. I love how they made it a little more irreverent than the TV show (the toilet scene is hilarious). Nic Cage as Superman is also great.

Side note: when I checked MoviePass the evening before, this showing at 4pm was not selected as Surge Pricing. By the morning it was surge priced, which I knew would be wrong bc I couldn’t imagine many folks going to 4pm screening on Thursday for this movie. So I used MP on another film listed as “unseen” at the same time then proceeded into the theater showing Teen Titans. It was in one the bigger theaters (200 or 250 capacity) and there was only one family there (5 people) seated in the last row. Expected maybe a few more people would straggle in late but nope! Just me and the family in this huge theater. Yet MP had it marked as surge pricing. WTF

MP should just be honest with its subscribers and say surge pricing is for any showtime during opening weekend and for any “hot” film (in this instance, Mamma Mia 2 was also surge priced for all showtimes despite having come out last week).

At this point, MP is a joke of a business. I’ll ride it out until it dies but it’s damn sad they can’t get their shit together.
