Wow I really enjoyed this. I didn’t realize this was basically a remake of the how the TV series starts. Haven’t seen the other movies so not sure if they tackled the same intro into the story. I’ve only seen the first few episodes of the anime series but it was so long ago I basically forgot it. This film does a good job of dropping the viewer into the story then filling the pieces as it goes.
I dig the animation and the yokai. Also that they set it in Dotonbori, Osaka. Characters are thin but it’s really about survival against these monsters and “winning” the game. Not crazy that the Reika character has big boobs that are a weird plot point (maybe the anime was the same?). TBH it’s the monsters that make this a cool flick. I may watch it again bc of them.
