Used my $5 stubs reward to knock the price down since I can’t use Moviepass. Ah well.
Great to finally see this and see it big for the first time. Been on my watchlist for so long (20 years!). Not sure why I keep putting it off since I love Satoshi Kon’s PAPRIKA so much.
This is rather intense… a psychological thriller where reality bleeds into fantasy stalker celebrity culture. Totally a movie of its time (intro to WWW and homepages) and yet a movie equally relevant now (fan culture and obsession). Honestly didn’t realize how intense and brutal this would be but it’s damn good. Also a bit depressing with how agents and studios control their talent.
