So basically this is Young & Dangerous 2018?? Wouldn’t call this a great movie but it sure is damn entertaining. Essentially a heist-gone-bad into young Triads into heroic bloodshed rescue thriller (thx to Scott Hamilton for that description). It’s like they wanted to touch on all the core tropes of HK action. I was laughing throughout when everything played out exactly like I expected. I find it amusing that these “heist” guys are also somehow elite tactical soldiers. When did that happen? They started as young troublemakers fostered by Eric Tsang’s Papa character but at what point did they become so highly trained? It doesn’t matter bc they kick ass.
btw Eric Tsang is the worst thing here (no surprise) and as a pleasant surprise Kurata is the best thing.
I’d be all for a sequel but given the budget of this I don’t think they could do it. This looks expensive. I also love love love the globetrotting here: HK to Budapest to Fukuoka and more. Well Go USA is handling the distribution so I expect this will be on Netflix eventually where I will watch it again.
