hot damn if I had known this was going to be a complete reimagining of the previous film from 1946 I would’ve just watched this directly after that movie. I wanted to space them apart bc I didn’t want to watch the same movie back to back but this is nearly a different film in that it’s structured differently and uses different setpieces and locations.
Not really film noir per se but had this been in black and white it absolutely would be dead center in the middle of that genre. Still carries enough elements to be considered including some marvelous angles (that last Lee Marvin shot is fucking incredible). Great femme fatale in Angie Dickinson. And damn Ronald Reagan is pretty good too.
Would love to see this on 35mm!
