Viewing Notes

Okay let’s see what ya got in 3D IMAX.

Tweet: Had a blast with ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL. Crazy cyberpunk sci-fi with cool action beats and plenty of heart. Testament to how great Rosa Salazar is that you care so much for this character. Looks gorgeous in IMAX and the 3D is good! Definitely one to see big.

Sure, it’s got some goofy dialogue and predictable story beats + melodrama. But Alita / Salazar + action & beautiful CG rendering overcome that. The 3D is very nice and immersive (you forget it’s in 3D which is the best kind) but I’ll probably go to a Dolby theater to see it again even tho it won’t be IMAX (note: there are scenes shot in IMAX which I didn’t know going in). Also want to go back and identify all these actors that I missed (Michelle Rodriguez is in this?!).

Basically this is the kind of movie made for me. Solid entertainment with a terrific protagonist. Also Jeff Fahey’s character, brief as it is, is worth the price of admission.

In a just world the theater should be as full as it will be for Avengers Endgame. It’s too bad there’s so little support for original / non-franchised / non-sequel films despite so many people crying that hollywood is out of ideas. This is one I will def pick up on 4K.
