Tbh I don’t remember what happened in the previous film. Didn’t realize this movie was coming out otherwise I would have tracked down the first film, which I saw last year, for a revisit bc I really didn’t recall the story whatsoever. And of course there’s no “previously on FATE/STAY NIGHT…” to setup the second film. It just drops the viewer in this convoluted and complex storyline of Masters and Mages with superpowered servants that battle each other.
I wouldn’t mind revisiting the first movie now but I don’t know that I care so much. There’s not a lot to get invested in here between the main characters. Maybe when the next film comes out (if I have enough advance notice) I would consider viewing these again.
