Another Brocka film from the World Cinema Project. Such a tragic story. Reminds me of Midnight Cowboy, not the story or plot details, but the look/feel and depravity and tragedy. Grimy film that does not sell Manila as a destination. Yet everything here feels real bc it is real. The streets, the bars, the clubs, the slums. Not sure what other Brocka films are available (no others from Criterion outside of Insiang) but I’d like to see more.
