Viewing Notes

Number two of my double feature (the reason I drove over to CineArt in Evanston).

The very imaginative science fiction fantasy adventure serves as a wonderful disguise for a coming-of-age tale set in rural Japan. Plays almost like a Mamoru Hosoda / Hayao Miyazaki hybrid yet director Hiroyasu Ishida brings his own style to this adaptation deftly balancing the humor, sadness and camaraderie of the young cast. Really love this movie.
