Nice pick-up for the Windy City Horrorama Party II film festival. Basically plays like a side-quel to the Heroes tv series; those with superpowers are considered “freaks” and outlawed and controlled by a heavily militarized police. Emile Hirsch and Bruce Dern are great acting against each other. Dern is especially terrific and funny. The young girl at the center of this is very good. Always amazed when a child actor can be so convincing in their role.
Given the small budget they made an effective sci-fi thriller. Wish they had a little more budget to make it look less like a made-for-TV movie and more cinematic. Not crazy about the title either.
Was preceded by short film THE PREMONITION.
