Viewing Notes

Knew nothing about this film that Daikaiju TV programmed for the After Hours segment tonight but it sounded interesting (and they rarely screen Korean films). Turns out this is a dark comedy about a popular actress that has several suiters that all show up on the same night after she’s won a major award. They all want to marry her and decide to stay at her condo until she decides. Shortly thereafter each of these men meets his untimely demise via some accidentally means. This is where the viewer has to suspend disbelief bc instead of just called the cops, the actress (a very lovely Ye Ji-won) with the help of her manager decide to cover up the deaths. Then things break into total chaos when her sister arrives with a throng of people for a surprise party.

It’s silly stuff with a few genuine laugh out loud moments but it’s very slapsticky and corny. Wouldn’t normally care much for this type of humor but Ji-won goes all in and it’s decent screwball comedy by the end. Plus it’s only 90 minutes long which is nice for a Korean film of any sort.
