Viewing Notes

Well I’m surprised but I really love this movie. Went in with no expectations (I’ve seen both positive and negative takes on my TL) and was completely blown away. Emotional, joyous, adventurous, funny, romantic. Its charm worked on me in a big way. I have no attachment to the animated version (only saw it once maybe ten years ago w/my gf). But this movie made me wish I could see it with my gf bc I think she would like it (she is a fan of the animated film).

I love the cast (Naomi Scott looks like a ringer for Sarah Michelle Gellar during the Buffy era, like so much it’s wild). Will Smith is tremendous and effective as the genie. I love the magic carpet and Abu the monkey. This may be one of favorite movies of the year. Crazy!

I saw it in Dolby bc I missed the IMAX showtime but now I want to see it in IMAX. But I won’t get the chance bc Godzilla is taking over and I’m out of AList credits for the week (used my third on Godzilla for Thursday). Ah well, at least the Dolby Cinema Experience was great and perhaps the best movie I’ve seen in that theater (audio & video).
