Viewing Notes

Okay, I heard this was bad and usually I’m like, “well it can’t be that bad and I’ll probably enjoy it anyways.” Welp, I was wrong. This is a very bad film. What makes it the most bad of the bad is all the talent involved. If you looked at the list of the actors involved you’d think this was gonna be the second coming of STEP BROTHERS. This is not that.

As a comedic take on Sherlock Holmes this movie is disappointing at every turn. None the humor lands; even the slapsticky stuff is just not good. It’s like an SNL skit that ran over long. I give credit to the production values and the actors that do their best to make a convincing period detective film but this screenplay is the pits. And all the attempts at poking fun of current events / pop culture are met with a loud thud. The Trump analogy is so damn goofy. The selfie bit is worse.

Someone described this as a good “airplane flight flick” and honestly I’d turn it off and switch to something else. And to think I *almost* went to see this w/AList. So glad I didn’t.
