Another ByNWR flick on MUBI expiring soon. Gotta admire his love for 60s exploitation which is mostly female exploitation and weird oddities like this. Also gotta love MUBI for programming these nudie cutie flicks amidst their usual fare of Cannes, arthouse and international programming.
Thought we watched this at movie night back in the day but I guess I was mistaken. Seeing topless dancers is fine and all but when it goes on and hilariously on, it kinda loses its effect. It just becomes comical. Maybe that was the intention but there’s really nothing very provocative when the routines are tedious and dull. But give Ed Wood & Co. credit for going for it. In a way this is the kind of movie that Danzig was going for in VEROTIKA.
I’m at least grateful for NWR for dusting off this one and giving it an restoration so more people can discover the absurdity.
This did remind me of that band that samples from this movie that I can’t recall. Need to track them down again. That was fun Halloweenie music.
