Overview

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her “safely” behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest’s holy blessing. Viewing Notes

Had a AList to burn and seen everything I want to see so watching this again. I like this movie a lot but my rating hasn’t changed. Mainly bc I feel like it still pulls punches where it shouldn’t. It’s a safe Goosebumps / Tales of the Darkside / Tales from the Crypt flick w/an adequate amount jumpscares for the teen set. No real edge to this. And tbh the entire side story with Daniela is a drag and I check out. In fact that sequence is so long (while Mary Ellen and Judy are outside rollerskating) I decided to hit the restroom, came back and it was still going and going.

Another negative: that pizza is shit pizza. It looks so bad that I’m shocked it wasn’t vented better. Like why have shit pizza in a teen horror flick? Don’t you want your audience to be “whoa awesome pizza pie” I don’t understand.

Other than that I think everything is really good. I did the ferryman stuff and the samurai armor. Also like the werewolf which I didn’t know until I looked it up that it is a very famous case of the Warrens. WTF haven’t we gotten that movie already instead of all the dumb possession flicks. I’ll repeat that it was aces to cast Madison Iseman as the babysitter. She’s great and a total Laura Strode type. I really like her in all the films I’ve seen her in and I hope she gets more horror flicks bc she’s great. She’d be ideal for another SCREAM flick or similar.

I also really like Michael Cimino as Bob’s Got Balls. He’s a really great all-american everyday boy next door type. Found him very endearing and love when he attempts to serenade Mary Ellen. Sweet moment. But he should’ve been killed.

Now I want to revisit the first two films to see if I still like them as much (I prefer them over THE CONJURING movies).
