Viewing Notes

Another Planet Food doc with Merrilees Parker! Quite awesome to see this part of the world and the all the food specialties. Really made me crave Lebanese cuisine. What I love about Merrilees is that she’s game to try anything even when it may not be appetizing. The raw liver bit is hilarious. When cooking with one of the food critics she meets the critic indicates that a desirable quality for young women being selected for marriage was how well they diced parsley. and she says, “guess I’ll remain single!” b/c it her dicing wasn’t so great to which Merrilees echoes the same sentiment. Funny b/c she did get married and spawned a couple of kids, IIRC.

Outside of the Japan installment this doc features the best food I’ve seen. All of it (even the raw liver) I wanted to try. And Merrilees flips out for most of it. She also has a segment where they kill a goat for a dinner and she says, “I suppose if you cannot watch this than maybe you should reconsider eating meat.” Great point about understanding and accepting where our food comes from.

Lebanon has never been in my list of countries to visit but this doc has def inspired me. Would absolutely visit this country and it’s now on my list.
