This is the scheduled film for Chicago Film Society tonight at NEIU. Library didn’t have it but found a very nice upload on YT. Decided to fire it up to see if it was worth the trek to NEIU to view in 35mm. So this is listed as a comedy drama but I don’t find any comedy in this depressing tale of an alcoholic and his failed marriage. I suppose the merits of this fall into the cautionary tale category. It starts light and slightly fun like “ho ho drinking is fun” until it moves into this sad drama of “yeah drinking is bad but so what if it destroys everything around me I will continue drinking.”
And given how the film ends this isn’t something I care to view in a theater, 35mm or not.
