Was expiring on MUBI and I had watched a bit of it last week and it seemed interesting so I started it from the beginning. Noticed it’s also on Prime.
Def an interesting premise that keeps the mystery going in strange places but ultimately by the end the payoff seems a bit flat. Still a unique film for something different. I can imagine this kind of plot device “phone walking” being done in other countries by other directors that could produce some crazy stories. Thinking Kiyoshi Kurosawa or Apichatpong Weerasethakul or [insert any director that’s doing some wild shit]. I just really dig this plot device.
I take issue w/them calling the lizard an iguana b/c it’s clearly not an iguana. Pretty sure it’s a beardy.
