Viewing Notes

Nice to get Korean films back in my local AMC.

My tweet: Quite enjoyed EXIT (엑시트), the new Korean disaster thriller starring Jo Jung-suk and Im Yoona. It’s the free solo climbing / toxic gas outbreak mashup I didn’t know I needed. Corny at times yet good emotion and fun action beats.

I know S.Korea classifies these films as action comedies I cannot. Sure there’s humor in the setup with Jo’s character being a failure living at home with his family then at his father’s birthday party (all before the conflict hits) but for the majority of the movie it’s a thriller with people dying and trying to escape the creeping vapor. So this is not a comedy as we would call them.

Anyways I had a lot of fun with this and dug the chemistry between the leads. They showed the trailer for DIVINE FURY and I’ll so excited we’re getting that at my theater, what’s ostensibly a FF type flick.
