When the Goddess of Happiness tosses the Longevity Monk and his disciples out of heaven (because the Monkey King tried to attain immortality), the Monkey King is reincarnated as the Joker. He now spends his time chasing two jealous women. When one of them is dying, the Joker goes back in time in an attempt to save her.

Viewing Notes
Had to finish this up before it expired at midnight. And I wanted to view it again b/c it’s just so crazy and convoluted. Appreciated it more on this viewing and still really love the wild color palette and open field action sequences where only fog serves as the background. As much as this is a “Stephen Chow movie” it’s really the women that carry the load and make this a fun film.
I finished Part Two afterwards and now I’d really like whatever original text exists of the original Journey to the West story. I’ve seen several adaptations and each one so different than the others. Curious what is true to the the source material and what’s embellished.
