Viewing Notes

In packing up my stuff I stumbled onto this VHS concert video of Ozzy performing during the Ultimate Sin tour. Since I got my CRT TV and VCR running (and cleared the space around it) I threw this tape in while I was packing. I don’t remember buying it but I have seen it a couple a times. Not sure I ever noticed (or forgot b/c I forget everything nowadays) but there’s at least 3 different concerts stitched together, which is pretty funny given they they’re wearing slightly different outfits between songs. Now Ozzy may change his costume but Jake E. Lee definitely would not. But there’s Jake sporting different shirts and pants. Just a funny thing. Watched the credits and they did shoot in NYC and Kansas City for this.

One thing I forgot is all the added short vignettes of Ozzy and the actress who’s in the “Shot in the Dark” video that randomly appear during some songs. Like during “Crazy Train” Ozzy is made up as an old-timey western villain who places the damsel in distress on the railroad tracks. There’s another where he’s Dracula and bites the girl in the neck. Just an odd choice for this production yet a totally 80s hair metal thing to do.

Anyways, this was fun to watch and brought back a lot of good memories. I believe I saw Ozzy 2 or 3 times on this tour (Metallica was the opening band!) including once in Detroit during my senior year spring break where I was high as a kite. Ah the good times.
