Watched this again since it was expiring on MUBI at midnight and I was really taken by this silly film. Also had discovered that not only did Alex Ross Perry direct the film but he co-stars with Carlen Altman, who co-wrote the screenplay w/Perry. I really like the natural and awkward dialogue. Good mumblecore w/some nice long takes of dialogue delivery. Funny that Joe Swanberg is thanked at the end.
Crazy that Perry went on to make QUEEN OF EARTH. I really like Carlen Altman. She portrays a great “attractive weird girl” in this. Surprised she’s not a bigger star now but will track down the short films she’s done. Curious what her relationship was w/Perry at the time. Seems like they were a couple when they made this based on their chemistry.
