Sorry, this isn’t a horror movie. It’s 2/3 documentary on haunted attractions and 1/3 thriller fake-out. Not sure how I missed this in theater but I’m guessing it was the bad WOM. As a found footage wannabe horror but more thriller, it’s not good and actually kinda dumb. Where it shines (tho dimly) is just documenting horror haunts around the USA. It’s neat to see how extreme some are as well as the FX and visuals they incorporate into their attractions. The brain-eating contest with Kobayashi was pretty funny. All that stuff was interesting to me.
When the film finally decides it wants to be a story w/the blue skeleton nonsense, which literally doesn’t occur until more than an hour into this, they think they are more clever than they are. And they shift to non-found footage?? WTF
Disappointing overall. But I like the haunted attractions and would like to see a full-on doc about them.
Also could’ve done without the vomit scene. :(
