Overview
Lo Lieh is the ringleader of the Snake Sect, intent on reviving a deadly faction known as the “Five Poison Web.” In order to do so, he has an affair with the sexy ringleader of the Scorpion Sect, Angela Yu Chien. However, there is also the Centipede Sect to contend with, as well as other assorted martial artists, among them played by Shaw Brothers talents Yueh Hua, Ching Li, and Lily Li.

Viewing Notes
Rewatched bc I originally viewed on El Rey w/commercials. Still dubbed but a lot cleaner presentation (El Rey was only SD and very pixel-y). I’d love to go thru and just revisit all those Shaw films I watched via El Rey. In fact, I wouldn’t mind doing a Kung Fu 100 redux project.
So this film is basically a Romeo & Juliet tale with a powerful weapon that can destroy everyone exposed to it. That’s the spider possessed by Spider Sect, the Juliet side. The Wudang Clan, Romeo’s side, is vehemently opposed to the Spider Sect. They have too much power! Lo Lieh wants the spider weapon and betrays the Spider Sect to get it.
There’s a lot more going on beyond that that makes this a very entertaining flick. My rating hasn’t changed but it was nice to see all these beautiful Chor Yuen sets in HD. That’s a big highlight; terrific setpieces and design. Also a pretty fun cast with Ching Li and Elliot Ngok as the Juliet and Romeo. Other fun faces include Norman Chu, Ku Feng and Lily Li Li-Li. The spider weapon is rather hilarious.
