Viewing Notes

20 year anniversary! Every year Brian Collins watches this movie on Thanksgiving. I guess bc it was released on Thanksgiving?* I know I haven’t seen since the theater.

This movie is 2 hours long??

Oh shit I just realized this counts towards my 90s rewatch project. Also: I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS IS ALREADY TWENTY YEARS OLD

I like this a little better than that viewing 20 years ago. The VFX are still sketchy but the performances are solid. Had completely forgot that this was a comeback film for Schwarzenegger. There’s a nice “making-of” featurette in the extras where he talks about having heart surgery and being out of the biz for a couple of years so he wanted to do something that was action and pushed him to show his fans he was back. He definitely goes for it here with this fantastical Y2K story but his stunt double is not all that convincing in the places where you know it’s a double.

*would be more appropriate to watch in the days leading up to New Years Eve!
