Honestly didn’t know that this was written by Shia LaBeouf based on his own life growing up as a child actor until the end. Then I was like ‘oooooooooooh shit’ yeah that is good. Shia is fucking amazing in this. Would be cool if got some award noms for it. The only drawback for me is Lucas Hedges, who portrays older (current) LaBeouf. I’m just not a Lucas Hedges fan. Nothing I can put my finger on but when he shows up in a film I’m taken out of the movie world and just thinking about how he’s just not that good or right for the part. Even here before I knew he was supposed to be LaBeouf I didn’t like him. Just didn’t buy him as this bad boy actor going in and out of rehab.
Still a cool flick worth seeing for Shia and his younger self portrayed by Noah Jupe. Great chemistry between those two.
