Viewing Notes

The latest Into The Dark via Blumhouse/Hulu is a wickedly funny dark comedy thriller that oh just happens to be set at Christmastime. Impressed by this little flick and at how much I laughed during the short runtime. It’s one of those films where you’re just not exactly sure which way things are gonna go. Keeps you guessing and I love that. Also love that it qualifies as a Christmas movie w/o being about Christmas. Yet the holiday set decorations are wonderful and touched the right note to make me happy for Christmas.

There’s a “Christmas bonus” joke that is an homage to Christmas Vacation.

It’s wild to have yet another class warfare movie this year when they’ve been so popular at the box office (Parasite, Knives Out and to a lesser extent Ready or Not). This fits in with those but leans more towards Ready or Not in humor but is more effective, imo.

I dunno what the availability will be for these Blumhouse Into the Dark films in the future but I wish they got a home video release so the good ones like this I could watch w/a crowd. Like I could totally watch this w/my family during Christmas (well, not my parents but my brother and sister and their families sure).

I know Blumhouse isn’t the be all end all but I sure do love that they are producing this film series and hope it continues.
