This was part of the “Christmas in Japan” week programmed by DKUTV. Was very curious about this one given the missing person premise. It’s quite out there with a complex tale of someone or some thing altering the timeline for this group of teens in a social club. The central protag Kyon is determined to solve what is happening with his friends. This is rather convoluted but I got the general gist of the crisscrossing timelines and how they were playing out but this is a wild movie. Also a long feature but the pacing keeps it moving.
I learned this was released on Blu here so I’m going to revisit because there is a lot going on. Also this is a movie set during the holidays but not about Christmas, which I appreciated given the crazy sci-fi story. One distracting thing was the voice actor for Kyon (Tomokazu Sugita) who doesn’t sound like a teenage boy but rather an older man.
