Viewing Notes
Welp since AMC fucked up and cancelled the UNCUT GEMS screening today and thereby killing my reservation I’m left with limited choices at the last minute to use my final AList for the week. Very annoyed at AMC.
So yeah this is a weird movie but perhaps not weird enough. I was plenty bored after the initial shock wore off. Most of the songs do nothing for me (have no nostalgia for the stage performance) so really it became monotonous and I just wanted it to be over. TSwift has a nice number towards the end but it’s too little too late. I just didn’t care about any of this even if that Victoria (Francesca Hayward) cat is super cute.
Did not need to see Ian McKellen licking out of a bowl. So many bizarre decisions throughout but quickly reminded myself that I cared about none of it. Was surprised to see folks exiting the theater (around 45-60min into the film) and not returning on an opening night screening. But yeah it’s that kinda movie. Either you’re really gonna be into it or just not at all.
Despite not wanting to see this on this particular night (and being super hyped to see UNCUT GEMS) I was fine making the last minute decision rather than throwing away the AList but now I wonder who would I possibly recommend this to. I give it a 5/10 but it should probably be lower. The entire time I kept thinking “at least I will never have to watch this ever again.”
Update: I lowered my rating after sleeping on it.
