Glad I saw this again in Dolby in my perfect seat. Looked and sounded great.
I enjoyed it more on this viewing knowing what to expect. For that I’m happy and overall it’s a fun adventure. Just not a very good Star Wars sequel. There are plenty of moments I do really like. However, the missteps are more glaringly apparent esp. how poorly Rose Tico is handled. Like why even bring Dominic Monaghan into this movie if only to snake more lines from her? Both he and Greg Grunberg are painfully squeezed into this for no good reason other than Abrams throwing his friends a bone. They’re distracting and further the case of the pathetic treatment of Kelly Marie Tran’s character. Ugh it drove me crazy every time they cut to that forest camp settlement and Monaghan would open his mouth. And I like the guy just not in this movie.
I really do love Zorii Bliss but that whole scene of her giving up the First Order all-you-can-eat token is so gd dumb b/c it literally happens minutes after she shows it to Poe talking about getting off the planet and escaping. Could’ve been a better way to handle that.
I love the look of the Knights of Ren but wow. What a waste. They’re like the bounty hunters in ESB, pure window dressing. But whatever. They look cool and I’m sure the action figures will sell.
I may write a little more once Ive soaked it in a bit.
