Viewing Notes

This is so good. Of course I drew comparisons to YOUR NAME and more recently viewed 5 Centimeters per Second so it was no surprise this is another Makoto Shinkai film. He really knows how to nail a poignant and emotional fragile time in the lives of teenagers. Plus the animation is really good (unlike the previous Japanese animated film I just watched, Flavors of Youth, which has just so-so yet adequate animation). Visually this is stunning. Also love that it’s set specifically in Shinjuku. Definitely had me reminiscing about that area.
