Viewing Notes

New arrival at my library. Probably mid-tier Chaplin for me. He has some nice moments with the highlight being the monkeys on the high wire. A bit concerning plot with the circus owner starving and abusing his daughter to encourage a better performance from her. Noticed how much Chaplin’s profile resembles Joaquin Phoenix. If he weren’t so tall he’d be great for another biopic on Chaplin. Certainly has the physical talent to do it.

The Criterion disc is stacked with supplements. I watched a bit of Chaplin’s interviews. If the Criterion channel included all of these it would worth having.
