Viewing Notes

RIP Jo Shishido December 6, 1933 – January 20, 2020

What an actor. What a career. This movie is all him. Love the photography. So many perfect shots. Haven’t seen Le Samouraï in a long time but I think it would pair well with this movie. Very different stories but maybe there’s similarities in look/feel and tone.

It’s maddening that there’s still so many of Shishido’s films unavailable in NA. He has so much charisma and presence that gives his characters a real impact in his films. I may have to watch a few more of his films to celebrate his life.
