Viewing Notes

Every time I get a bad DVD from the library (not bad as in a scratched to hell disc but bad as in poorly produced DVD) I think there cannot be a worse one yet here we are.

THIS DVD HAS TO BE THE WORST DVD I HAVE SEEN.
No joke… minutes into this movie I was looking up the Arrow Hellraiser trilogy set for pricing b/c fuck this DVD. I almost just shut the damn thing off. In addition to being a pan & scan 4:3, there’s zero darkness correction so you can barely see anything in an already darkly lit movie. Guessing this has to be an early release but who the hell watched this and thought this was acceptable? VHS would look better than this. There’s literally two characters talking on screen and you can’t make out either one.

And from I gathered, the movie is decent. Not great compared to the previous two films but still has some interesting stuff and (I think) some cool practical FX. Plus it stars Terry Farrell (Dax from DS9!). I love her! But you can barely see her on this DVD b/c it looks so bad. Even now I’m wondering why the hell I watched this. I actually own this movie in a DVD set with a bunch of other Hellraiser films but it’s already packed in a box somewhere. Figured I’d just get this from the library rather than trying to locate it. Didn’t realize I’d get THE WORST DVD I HAVE EVER SEEN.

Definitely will be revisiting this some day hopefully that new 2K scan on Blu. Didn’t realize how metal this movie was (it actually features Armored Saint performing in the club!). The soundtrack overall is really good.

Oh the reason I watched this is bc I’ve never seen it and I want to see the 4th movie BLOODLINE (not that it really matters with these but ah well). Given what I could make out this is one that should’ve been programmed at a horror marathon here esp. since they’ve been doing a lot of 90s horror in recent years.
