Saw this dvd at the dollar store and it looked interesting w/a b-movie cast. Checked IMDb and it has a very low rating so rather than spending a buck I just requested it from the library. I’m here to tell you that it’s definitely not worth a buck.
This what I like to refer to as a Mortgage Movie. The big names here (Mickey Rourke, Michael Pare, Tom Sizemore) got a paycheck to make their mortgage payment. None have large parts ‘cept Sizemore who gets the most to do in a supporting role but hey these names can sell the film I guess. Most of the heavy lifting is by Johnny Messner as the detective trying to uncover this government coverup after an ex-soldier massacres 10 people in a bar.
tbh given the premise this could be a cool film. But the screenplay and execution and production are awful. It’s pretty dull overall and lacks any real action until the final act but by then I really didn’t care. Even the weight of those veteran actors does little to help this terrible screenplay. Made me miss those crazy DTV sci-fi action flicks from the 90s that are at least fun to watch. Nothing fun here.
