Viewing Notes

This was the second film scheduled by DKUTV in their student themed double feature (the first was The Drifting Classroom). But it’s also a Nobuhiko Ōbayashi double feature which I didn’t realize. Compared to Drifting Classroom and Hausu, this is more straightforward in its delivery of a psychic college student who encounters another psychic.

I like the premise and the actors (Hiroko Yakushimaru was also the star of Sailor Suit and Machine Gun from the same year; she’s great!). However, I was a bit bored by execution. Seems like it could’ve gotten a lot weirder but generally just plays it safe throughout. I’d give it a revisit some day.
