Overview

Clarice Starling is a top student at the FBI’s training academy.  Jack Crawford wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism.  Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, may be just the bait to draw him out.

Viewing Notes

$5 monthly classic film screening via Chicago Critics ( I think they’re all Academy award winners this year).

Neat to see on the screen and still very unsettling. Good suspense in a few of the sequences. Anthony Hopkins is really great in this… like way above everyone else filling expository roles. Crazy but cool this won for Best Picture.

“only the third film to win Academy Awards in all the top five categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Adapted Screenplay.” Bananas!
