Viewing Notes

This is not a good movie but it’s entertaining. Tiger Shroff is a cocky guy who meets a girl (Shraddha Kapoor) then loses girl and also his martial arts master, after getting humbled. So there’s plenty of dance numbers and action scenes in this “action romance revenge” flick and they are the only reason to watch b/c the story is silly and the acting is super melodramatic. So many eyeroll moments but Tiger is a specimen (so is his nemesis here, Sudheer Babu) and loves his spinning roundhouse kicks, which let’s be honest, those are not really effective for street fighting but hey it looks cool, right?

There are some legit decent fight sequences and action setpieces (mostly in Thailand where they worked with a Thai action director and crew). The final act is a riff on The Raid/Dredd. Watched the BTS making-of featurette which was more enjoyable just to see the crew at work (for both the action and dancing). There’s an entire filmed dance performance that was removed from the completed movie and I don’t know why b/c it’s excellent (and included in its entirety in the deleted scenes).

I’ll say this every time I see these super cut actors in Indian films; I’d love to know exactly what they did to achieve those physiques. Not that I would attempt it but I’m super curious what they do to get that chiseled look (and not the BS stuff reported in the trades/magazines/etc but the real program they used to get those bodies).

Guess I’ll watch the sequel now. =)
