Viewing Notes
This was the second feature in DKUTV’s Animation World programming (Mondays). Since I was going to be out I just watched it via YouTube b/c the description sounded wild. And it is a batshit animated flick that feels like it was born out of the HEAVY METAL movie. Super weird, convoluted, bloody and explicit. Really curious how this feature came to be and who it was made for because it looks like it would be another family animation about cats but it is definitely not for children.
Cats are getting murdered and a new cat in the neighborhood investigates and finds a whole cult of cats with a leader espousing eugenics to bring all cats back to their original purity… I guess? This is such a strange yet fascinating movie. Even now as I think about it I’m still not sure what exactly what was happening w/the evil cat leader and why he was murdering certain cats yet building an army of cats. There are some gruesome deaths too. Also a sex scene that is bananas.
I viewed the English dub but I’d like to hear the German language version. The English dub is odd at times but serviceable and it’s amusing to hear cats say “bullshit” a lot. IMDb lists some of the English voice cast but I don’t think it’s correct b/c none of those voices sounded like those actors (John Hurt, Michael Madsen, Christopher Plummer, etc.). Wondering if there was another recording?
Anyways, I’m not even sure this is a good movie but damn I was way into it because it’s so freaking weird.
