This has some nice production values yet also feels like a fan film. It’s a short story about Obiwan Kenobi on Tattooine during the early years of Luke’s life. He wants to toss his lightsaber but gets pulled back in when a garrison of stormtroopers arrive doing a census putting the lives of Owen and Beru Lars in danger along w/with a young Luke Skywalker. This movie only half works for me.

For example, what’s the purpose of the Tusken Raiders appearing at all? This story takes place a few years after Luke is handed off to Owen and Beru so he looks 4 or 5 years old and he witnesses this battle between his aunt/uncle and Obiwan against the Empire’s troops but I guess he just forgot all of this by the time he’s a teenager in Star Wars? Also being only a few years removed from Obiwan’s super physical and dramatic fight w/Anakin why the hell is he shown so weak here? Like, he would dust these troops in a heartbeat but he can’t even force pull his lightsaber back to him? What.

Some odd decisions for what appears to be a very committed and consuming project. I wonder if anyone vetted this story outside their inner circle b/c it just doesn’t add up to a believable representation of how this would all go down.

They should’ve just made Luke a toddler instead of a kid to explain why he wouldn’t remember any of this. And just have Obiwan whip ass on these lackey troopers and be done with it. Seeing him struggle even a little in situation is a crock of shit. Obiwan was force flinging the droid army around like flicking ants not to mention he went toe to toe w/Darth Maul and General Grievous. Ugh. A handful of stormtroopers isn’t gonna do shit to stop him.
