This is precisely the type of crime thriller borderline horror film that I do not gravitate towards. The whole stalker / creeper secretly invading a woman’s home is just too disturbing given how woman are generally treated and demeaned in normal spaces. This film touches on both. The protag is treated unfairly at her office job having gone thru a traumatic experience. Additionally the police / detective don’t really believe her. If there’s a negative here (besides the narrative) it’s the clumsy police work which always annoys me.
This movie would be right at home at Fantastic Fest, esp. w/the other Korean films they’ve screened over the years (yet sadly haven’t shown in recent years). I think this is a good movie but I’m growing less fond of viewing woman in peril, esp. within abusive creepy situations.
Surprised this hasn’t landed on Shudder but maybe it will as it’s come up in current chatter (I think Rob Hunter has been singing its praises). Not that I’d view this again but this could use a better transfer than the b-grade DVD I got from the InterLoan. This really would benefit w/some true blacks instead of the gray tones and artifacts.
