Overview

Viewing Notes
I dig seeing a bloody horror period piece. This one is a tad convoluted as it jumps around in the timeline when a pregnant courtesan is murdered then returns to enact revenge on those responsible. I was very tired viewing this so it was a challenge to follow all the plot beats to get to the final confrontation. The film looks really good and has some nice photography. I like how catty the sisters are yet kept in their place by their mother who only wants a male baby to someday become the ruler. The mother is the lead from BEDEVILLED so that’s cool. She’s really the best character in this movie.
I’d probably enjoy this more on a second watch knowing how it cuts across the timeline and having awake eyes would help. I was already sleepy and this being a vengeful ghost period piece is like taking a sleeping pill.
It would be great if Shudder continues to buy more K-Horror for the platform. Asian horror in general, actually.
